When I was younger, I suffered a severe spinal cord injury. The injury resulted in permanent paralysis of my lower extremities and the use of a manual wheelchair for mobility. This incident necessitated years of rehabilitation, re-learning life as I knew it, and restructuring my life and future career plans.
However, a new plan eventually emerged after a prior dream died in the blink of an eye. Taking on law school just a few years after my injury created several hurdles and obstacles in my becoming an attorney.
Navigating my circumstances over the past 15 years has given me a unique viewpoint and skills that give me an advantage in the legal field. Problem-solving is not on a case-by-case basis for me but an everyday occurrence. Empathy comes naturally because I have experienced many of the same emotions my clients often experience. Perseverance is the only means of overcoming many of my obstacles. This life experience has taught me the important skill of being both flexible and resilient.
As such, I inherently impart empathy, perseverance, and resilience to every case and client I am fortunate to work with.
